Parenting can be {super} stressful!

Here are 4 ways to cope:

Don’t do it alone - You need the support of others who have been there! Find ways to connect with other parents, such as support groups, online or in person. Social connections and support significantly reduce stress and promote mental health.

Take care of yourself - This may seem ridiculous and impossible when you are in the throes of early parenting, but you truly need care too! Are you eating and sleeping regularly and enough? Are you speaking with other adults? Finding ways that you can be cared for is key!

Somatic care - What can help you feel more at peace in your body? Different things work for different people: breathing exercises, yoga or other movement, spending time in nature, soaking in a hot bath. Find ways to help your body soothe and return to equilibrium.

Ask for help! - Can anyone in your life provide one-time or ongoing support? Reach out to your spouse/partner, friends and family, place of worship, etc. and share about your needs - NOW is the time to allow others to support you, even if that is not usually your role. A therapist is also a great option to provide confidential ongoing support.
